4 Quick reasons why you should be blogging in your photography business.

Lets talk about blogging…

I know, I know, something else to add to the ‘to do’ list…or is it?

Lets go back to basics… what is blogging?

Its your thoughts, facts, and expert opinions that relate to your photography business aimed at sharing your knowledge about what you do, why clients should choose you. Having said that its not about YOU but what you can do for your clients…but of course you will be in there with your advice, anecdotes and stories. It is a written piece of information that lives on your website – not just social media and can be read by clients, some prefer to call it a journal, and I quite like that!

It’s a campaign, it’s a behind the scenes, its your expert advice, its photography tips, its an insight into you…its kind of like social media, but its much better than that. Clients will browse your site, but what is really going on right now in your business and with you? Its like your social media, but on your website….and the benefit of that is you are owner. There are so many stories of FB closing accounts AND and it lasts longer instead of being lost in the world of social media after 30 seconds. If you have something you really want to share with potential clients…. Blog about it!

Once you’ve got your blog complete here is how to make the most if it….

Post it on your website

Take snippets and post it to your socials over a week or so.

Send it our in an email

Is it something that educates? Use it in your nurture emails, use it as a lead magnet.

One 600 word blog, can be re fashioned into so much content AND its on your website for your clients to read and the SEO and the updated website can make google happy too, especially if its educational and your clients spend a decent amount of time on there AND lets not forget key word usage.

Here are 4 quick reasons why you should be blogging more…

Position yourself as an expert

This builds trust and is more likely to lead on to direct contact from a potential client.  Show yourself in your blogs to get a great connection with the reader – which will be your ideal client. The biggest marketing prediction for 2021 is genuine connection, and I totally get that, especially in this world of so much quick fire content.

Create value for your clients

Convert clients currently on the fence – there is so much information about what you offer on your website, but your blog posts go further. They show a little of who you are and what you stand for too.  Offer tips and advice, how to blogs.

SEO

SEO is a long game, not often instant results. SEO is not just about how you make it work it, its also how others in your industry work it too. Helpful blog posts with lots of key words will help you climb the rankings, but its not always essential, depends on the real purpose of your blog post.

Staying visible

Blogging answers  lot of questions that clients may have. If your blog truly creates value for users, search engines are going to pick it up. It’s a great way for you to house information about new products, your service and you! Clients will get more than the information they need, they will also get to know more about your brand and you…. you are your brand and trust is at the top of the list when people are looking for such a personal service.

Blogging isn’t always something else for your to do list. For my education website, I write my own blogs. However for my photography business, not always the case. It depends on the subject, how busy I am, the topic or a number of other things, in which case, I will outsource it. The topic will still come from me and the writer will follow the basic information, but using a blog writer saves me so much time that I don’t need to be using up….. that’s why I will outsource it.
